Rector

Following a spiritual journey that began amidst the foothills of the Appalachians in rural Mississippi, the Reverend Tommy Sheppard feels a deep connection to returning to these mountains. Drawn to the Episcopal Church during his teenage years, he found a faith that resonated with his values.

Rev. Sheppard holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Social Work from Delta State University. This background, along with his Master’s degree in Psychology from Capella University, informs his passion for serving others. He has dedicated his career prior to ordination to working with youth aging out of foster care and those struggling with addiction and mental health issues.

He earned his Master of Divinity degree prior to ordination as a priest in The Old Catholic Church in 2009, Rev. Sheppard served a congregation in Memphis until 2018. In 2023, a renewed calling led him back to the Episcopal Church. He earned a post-graduate Diploma in Anglican Studies. He was ordained a deacon on July 20, 2024 by The Right Reverend Matthew Cowden.

A devoted admirer of Mister Rogers, Rev. Sheppard strives to embody similar values of kindness and compassion. He finds joy in spending time with his canine companions (Grace and Belle) and his Sun Conure (Ekko). Rev. Sheppard looks forward to connecting with the members of Trinity Church.
